Personal training for teen DS

Anonymous
Looking for recommendations for a personal trainer for my 15-year-old DS. He plays school sports throughout the school year, however is looking to strengthen his core and build some muscle over the summer prior to starting high school. Would appreciate recommendations of trainers others have used and would recommend —especially ones located in McLean, Arlington or Falls Church. TIA!

It’s been a few years, but this guy was great when one of my boys was trying to get in better shape before August tryouts. He’s in McLean and Tyson’s

Have you looked into Burn boot camp? They are located in Falls Church and will take summer memberships for teens. It’s not personal training as they are group classes but the instructors are really helpful and will correct form. I’m in my 40s but a lot of teens are there this summer.

He works with a lot of young athletes (and adults too)

This is a good option. I’ve taken my teen to Burn. At 16, he now has his own gym membership and goes independently.

I’ve also had a teen with a personal trainer, who was great but no longer in this area.

I would rate Burn or a gym membership higher than a personal trainer when it comes to effectiveness with my kids. YMMV

Probably not convenient for you, but mine goes to Halo in Fairfax.

Not individual, but small groups of 5-6. Mine loves it and the coaches correct form and are helpful. I think many gyms have similar for teens.

Shouldn’t a 15 year old already be in high school?

Not if they were red shirted. We have a neighbor boy who turned 15 in 8th grade

Healthy Baller is great. My son goes to the one near Merrifield. We live in Falls Church.

Can’t you put a weight bench in your backyard and steer him to some YouTube videos? Seriously a personal trainer for a 15 yo? This is like the poster who wanted a stylist for their 13 yo DD. Then we wonder why kids can’t solve problems.

They are going to be 19 when they graduate?

Yes, my neighbor’s kid will be 19 when he graduates. My kid will be 17 when he graduates and they’re almost the same age (my kid is a month younger and a year ahead). It’s weird. It happens though.
