My neighbors who are section 8 tenants have causing havoc in our neighborhood. Illegal activities, random gun shots throughout the night, and unkept property. We’ve reached out to police several times, CPS, nothing is being done. Anyone have experience with this type of situation? This has been years of tormenting our once peaceful neighborhood. |
OP here - to clarify this is a home in DC. |
I think you need to embrace the diversity of your community. Everyone needs a place to live. Fortunately we have these programs to help people obtain housing in good neighborhoods. Be thankful. |
haha as you take cover |
Move. |
And your address is? Just want to put your neighborhood on the list of citizens who want to help. |
Why wasn't your subject:
What can be done about neighbors who engage in illegal activities, shoot gun throughout the night, and don't keep up the property? Why are you focusing on how they pay their rent? |
GOP gotta learn how to convey their messages better. |
How do you know how they pay their rent?
Unkempt property is often the landlord's fault. I represent families (often in subsidized housing, which includes section 8) in housing conditions court, and you wouldn't believe how hard they have to fight to get landlords to do the bare minimum of maintenance. |
If there are funds going off in your neighborhood, I would move. |
Guns* |
Is it just a voucher tenant or actual section 8? We were able to get the landlord to kick out a voucher tenant on our block by constantly reporting the problems to the landlord. Pictures and videos were hard to brush off. The landlord turned it into an Airbnb. Never thought we’d be happy about that but we were. Actual section 8 is locked in and won’t change. Moving is your best option. It sucks. |
Where should OP move to? |
Arlington, Falls Church, Vienna, Georgetown, Paris, Montreal, Miami or NYC. She is not stuck. |
This is a troll.
There is no way you title a thread with "Vouchers" and then go on to mention ***gun shots***, sandwiched between unkempt property and undefined "illegal activities". |
