| Serious question: shouldn't it be embarrassing to hock an in-app game purchase? The "celebrities" used to be washed-up Suits actors, but I saw JLo doing one the other day! Courtney Cox and Lisa Kudrow together in one! Are they really making enough money to do these things? Seems humiliating, and something only someone hard-up for cash would do. |
| I heard you give blow jobs for a new purse, isn’t that also what someone heard up for cash does? |
| That escalated quickly. |
| You answered your own question- these celrbs are so desperate for cash, this is what they are reduced to. |

The apps have to be gathering data on you to
Make it worth while. I’m assuming there are metrics like how you move, where your eyes go on the screen, decision making etc just tons of data. I judge those celebs. It’s gross. |
| I agree with you. I saw Sophia Vergara promoting some mini game the other day. DH and I chatted about it - like, you know she doesn’t actually play the game. You aren’t going to be playing it “with” her. You aren’t going to have a chance “meeting” with her in the game. But that will convince some sad losers to download it? I don’t get it. |
| Probably fake. Especially those mini game ads. |
| I don’t think some of the celebrities mentioned above are desperate for money. They have plenty, but they just want more. |
I am sure they will donate the money to a worthy cause. |
|
Some make quite a bit of money considering it's a 1min video.
Like Fran Drescher -- her videos are about 1 minute long, and she charges $950+ https://www.cameo.com/frandrescher?aaQueryId=d78f383b7492cf014b3d0cf36f747e09 Others charge much less. But yeah...why do they do it? Money. |

I'm always surprised at the caliber celebs they get for these game ads.
Jimmy Fallon was just on the TV doing a little rap for Royal Match (I think). I've seen John Goodman, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Anniston, Jlo, Simon Cowell, Pedro Pascal, etc. Those aren't exactly D-list celebs, IMO. My partner and I joke that the Royal Match game gets better celebs than the Masked Singer or Dancing with the Stars can get. |
Yes; you are exactly right about the Royal Match ads. What do you think people get for those? |
|
Some of them are AI. I’ve seen obvious AI of Oprah touting weight loss stuff, and Kelly clarkson as well.
The example someone gave earlier of Pedro pascal: that was an AI mash up, not him. Pretty easy to spot at times. |
| It's tacky and that King's Match game is deceiving. |
I have definitely seen the AI ads online, but a lot of the celebrity ads are TV commercials on the major networks and it's clearly real. Show business folks always have a bunch of projects in the works, whether it's an indie movie or a fashion brand, etc. Sometimes, they actually will take these promotional jobs to help pay for their personal projects. Many of them will specifically say that they took a role to pay for an indie movie. |
