Many Persians in the us, and in dc are anti-regime.
Some aren’t Islamic, but many are also Islamic. However Persians are also a super proud people - I would say one of the groups that have the most internalized “cultural superiority” Curious what the dc / American Persian community feels right now. Are your non-Persian American friends reaching out? |
| I am not Persian but hope that Persian-Americans know that most of us differentiate between the current Iranian government and the people. We understand it is a beautiful culture with a rich history, contribution to arts, and learned people. I hope that one day the people of Iran will be free of this oppressive regime. |

Persians voted for this.
Of course it would be great to differentiate however given they on mass voted for Trump for this reason and more of Christian nationalism views which by the way was beyond dumb to vote for the guy that hates brown people yes all brown people and wants to take freedoms away, |
| Most Persians in America feel like they are culturally superior to the people currently in Iran. |
Be careful of the word regime. Would you refer to the oppressive US regime? Israeli regime? It is a term loaded with bias. What is a government and what is a regime? -- no fan of dictatorial governments |
There's a reason they prefer the term Persian rather than Irani. |
| Persia doesn’t exist… |
| Persian and I support what the administration is doing. I’m hoping it leads to a regime collapse and positive change. |
I worked with many Persian-Americans in my former career who had settled here, or theur parents had, after the revolution. They didn't talk about the past or the country very much. But one colleague cried to me one day about what was happening to women there. The people there are trapped. I don't think it's quite as oppressive as Afghanistan but it's pretty oppressive. I remember the prejudice they faced back in the 1970s even though they did not support the revolution. I hope people here treat them well during this time. |
https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-858111 Do you support the recommendations of this op ed? It calls for both regime change and the Partition of Iran |

Love the Persian people and their culture. Hate the regime and the crazy Mullahs ruling this country. They have run it to ground.
As an Indian, I am curious to see where this conflict goes. Never good to have conflict in ME. Mucks up the enviornment, peace, trade...everything. |
You see no differences between the Iranian system and Israel and America? None? |
PP here. I have heard numerous Persian-Americans use the term "regime" when referring to the Iranian government. Iran scores among the bottom nations in the world for civil liberties, political rights, and freedom of the press. |

Anyone who supports the Iran government shouldn’t call themselves progressive.
My Iranian friends long for the days before this regime (yes, regime) when they lived great lives and had freedoms. It’s a tragic place now for them, and they hope the government will topple. Supporting Iran is bizarre for any American, much less supposed liberals. |
The issue is most Iranians do not want to go back to a time when the inflection point actually happened. Freeing the Iranian people means rolling back the Arab invasion and re-installing Zoroastrianism. Pre revolution but post invasion is still not ideal |
