We were Liars Series

Anyone watching? I enjoyed the book. It’s off to a slow start but I’m watching with someone who knows nothing about it, so I feel like we have to stick it out. I’m always a sucker for shows about rich people in the Hamptons.

Started watching last night. Enjoying it so far. There are so many blondes that it is hard to tell them apart. The scenery looks gorgeous.

Haha, yes! I have no idea whose kid is whose so far.

Same just started. Don't know why all the daughters are "Sinclairs" when they are all married and who's who like the PP. Also a sucker for gorgeous beach especially the interiors. This one is supposed to be MV, not the Hamptons?

Yes, it is supposed to be MV

I just finished. It got better as it went, IMO. I could have done without the constant voiceovers. The main character was the little girl version of the main character in the show Revenge, which I loved back in the day.

Part of that twist was THE one thing I cannot stand and systematically avoid. Hated everyone after.

One of the Liars is Ewan Mcgregors daughter.

I had no idea the novel had been made into a series until I saw this thread: thank you!

As an English teacher, I discovered this novel a few years ago when my students recommended it. I loved it: the best twist in YA literature I've ever seen, plus beautifully written in a simple, spare style that is so difficult to achieve, but so accessible.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for putting this series on my radar!

Just finished it and knew nothing about it going in. I was surprised to be surprised by the twist. Now off to find another show about dysfunctional rich people…

It’s really bugging me that it was so obviously not filmed in MV with all those evergreen trees everywhere.

I haven’t seen the show yet, but MV has evergreens. Manuel F. Correllus State Forest in MV is filled with them and a bike path runs right along side it.

They're still part of the Sinclair family, even if they got married. Like all the kids are Sinclairs, even though they're Cadence Sinclair Eastman or whatever.

I did, however, find it really weird that anyone (particularly a British person) would name their kid Gatwick.

Finished it...thought it was a good low- brow binge.

The lairs have the worst hair! The color and the hairstyles. I realize they are on their private family island and running around wild, but….
