Two things:
How long does this increase typically last? Because I hear it totally plummets after menopause? So like 5-10 years at the most? I must be in perimenopause now because my libido is way up. I basically think about it all the time now and want to have sex every day. My husband must be bewildered, lol. It’s funny because all through my thirties, when I was pregnant/post partum/breastfeeding/and then frequently “touched out” by 3 babies and toddlers, I only really wanted it around ovulation. I made sure to have sex once a week just to keep my husband happy but I would have been ok without. Now though, it’s completely different and I have to assume it’s due to the hormone imbalance (estrogen falls in perimenopause so testosterone is more dominant at the moment). So that leads me to the second thing: Is this what it’s like for men all their lives but even worse? I truly can’t imagine. I kind of feel bad for them now!! They can’t help themselves. Does anyone else relate? |
| 47M and I can relate. I used to be the one to initiate most of the time but now I can't keep up with her. She has a really good toy to help make up the difference. |
If your husband can't meet your needs, you should feel free to find other outlets. You have a biological need, and free license to do whatever is necessary. |
| Dead cat bounce. All gone by 47. |
| I am 48 and my wife is 50. I can't keep up with her high sex drive lol. It started around 42 and she has been extremely horny since. Maybe this is what happens with women as they get older no idea but my wife is definitely like OP |
Yep. Last flicker of a dying star. |
😂😂😂😂😂 |
| Yes it’s that way for men. Get a side piece. |

Enjoy it. Went to the urologist last week for my weak erections who then sent me to a cardiologist. I got all results back I have no med issues according to them that warrant ED meds.
Imm going to try some mediation maybe i am too stressed. I appreciate my DW patience as we work on this. |
47 yo F here. The cycles are almost gone and irregular now but the itch won’t go away. 4 lovers |
4 lovers? At a time?? I mean, do you date them / sleep with them in the same week/month? |
| I’m one of the lucky ones. I’m mid 60s and my libido has always been at a healthy level. Thank god for Viagra as my husband can keep up with me. I’ve never experienced really being in heat but I’ve never experienced no interest. |

I'm a 60 y/o woman, well past menopause -- had a hysterectomy over a decade ago -- and the past 6 months I have been hornier than a teenage boy.
Seriously, I often ache down there. When my partner isn't up for sex, I take care of myself. As soon as possible. No idea why the sudden uptick in my libido, but I've decided to simply enjoy it. In fact.... |
| Women in their early to mid-40s are the absolute best! |
I can't speak for all men, but for me, it's been like this since I was 15 or so. I'm now 67 and it's not as bad as then, but it's still an overpowering thing in my life, |
