Which SEC college is the most popular in the DMV right now? |
1) UF
2) UGA 3) UT |
Interesting, UF doesn’t seem popular in our school, but UGA is the top SEC choice for most. UT meaning Texas? |
If a kids going to Florida, they’re going to Miami |
Is Tennessee in the SEC? Auburn? |
U Florida is very popular with the public students as it is one of the most affordable OOS options. It is a great school with a lot of spirit. I'm also an alum- so Go Gators! Miami is for a different set of students- ones with a lot of money and not in the SEC.
UGA and Tenn are also wonderful options that have a ton of school spirit. Texas is great, but with such low OOS acceptances, I don't see as many students going there. -MCPS teacher |
Kentucky is gaining steam |
What about FSU? |
Not in the SEC, but personally, I like it. It's a great town and good environment. |
Not SEC, nor is Miami so they should not be in this thread. |
Here are the SEC schools: University of Alabama Auburn University of Arkansas University of Tennessee UGA University of South Carolina UF LSU University of Missouri Ole Miss Mississippi state University of Oklahoma Vanderbilt Texas A&M University of Texas University of Kentucky |
At our school it’s UF, UGA and South Carolina…but none are that popular in the scheme of things.
At our school, Wisconsin, U Vermont, UMD and and UVA were most popular by far (with Vermont a bit of a head scratcher this year). |
SEC tiers by popularity and academic ranking
Vanderbilt Florida/Georgia/Texas South Carolina/Tennessee/Auburn Alabama/Ole Miss/Kentucky Unrated and unpopular in DMV Mississippi State Missouri Oklahoma Texas A&M Arkansas LSU |
A&M is clearly on the level with FL/GA and Texas in between Vandy and those 3.
A&M is the by far the richest of all of the schools with Texas. It is not even close. You can add all of the other endowments together and still A&M’s would be bigger….guess where part of that money goes….have you seen their professors at most departments and their backgrounds? |
Tennessee has risen up the ranks. Florida is still the most popular around us. |
