| I wasn't sure if this is a relationship question or fashion. Am I the only one who struggles to get my husband to bin gross old hats and wear a new one? I think it's unhygienic and honestly embarrassing to wear the nasty old hats, especially in public, but he couldn't care less. Baseball caps have a short lifespan before they get smelly (bacteria), sweat stains, faded and discolored, etc. It's only $20-30, so it's not a money-thing. I just don't get it. |
| I don't "allow" my husband to do anything. He is a grown man and does what he wants. |
| Allow? Yikes. |
| I don't understand the use of "allow" here - my husband wears what he wants. I have been known to buy him replacement shorts/shirts/hats as stocking stuffers if his are getting old or have tears in them, but if he said "nah I like the stained hat better" that would be that. It's his head. |
| “Allow” |
| Wash them |
|
Allow. agree, yikes.
DH has lots a baseball hats, but prefers just a of them for whatever reason. Fortunately, he, on his own, put these through the gentle wash cycle in the washing machine with some oxi-something detergent to look and smell cleaner. good luck! |
|
Yeah, it's an issue over here, too, lol.
My DH wears what he wants in general, but if he's going out with me I will tell him to put on a less-ratty hat. I buy him new ones when I see one I know he'll like. But my DH's clothes are worse. He makes a huge amount of money and nevertheless can often be seen in literal rags -- tshirts and khaki shorts that are over 30 years old with holes in them. I only bring it up if we are going somewhere together, otherwise he happily wears his rags. |
| I’d wash them, but that’s pretty much it. |
| Why isn't he occasionally washing them? Yes you sweat on the hat! Also I wear sunscreen and/or makeup that gets on it. |
|
I wear gross baseball caps, so...
You can wash them. If he's concerned about the bill losing it's shape, wash it in the dishwasher and curl the bill into a glass. |
This! Would you want to him police what you wear? What if he told you he only wanted you in uncomfortable thongs and tight lacy bras? |
|
Allow?
|
There's only so much washing will do. They are still going to fade and get sweat stained and the funk doesn't go away at a certain point. Just like athletic clothes. People, especially men, think you can wear those polyester/spandex workout shirts and pants for years on end. They have a lifecycle of maybe a year max before they should be thrown out. |
| I wash them, soak in oxycleqn. Yes they fade but he loves them. If they aren't dirty or smelly he wears them. If they are really out of commission, he gets new ones. But that's like 5 years. And DH sweats a LOT |
