MP3 89.6% + MP4 89.6% = A for the semester! DC Did it!

So proud of my kid for doing exactly enough to get an A for both quarters.

MP3 89.64% + MP4 89.68% = A for the semester.

Next year maybe DC will go for the semester A without getting both quarter As.

Ha! Next year, they will be averaging the grades and not rounding so I think the same grades will be a B if things hold!

But well done to your kid!

Is report card out yet?

And here is example 1 as to why not providing official transcript grades by the quarter and not rounding, is grade inflation. My kid's >98% scores each MP = same result. A. Here's where SAT and AP scores might show someone's actual differential.

Another example of mediocre MCPS performance. Sad.

does no one look at MP quarter grades at all? I assumed they were used for magnet program selection at least...

This document is silent on rounding. Have you seen anything official that says there will be no more rounding.

Oh, your poor baby. He only gets an A and is put in the same bucket as the 90%ers? How will you show us all how special he is?

You realize there has always been a 10-point in a grade, right?

+1. I would think an averaged grade of 89.6 would round to a 90 even next year.

I wish they did + and -

Your kid should be challenging the self in more advanced class instead of coasting.

So OP, what are you saying to your dc about these grades? Do you show open disdain for an 89.6?

Huh? An 89.6 for two MPs still averages out to 89.6, which is still an A...

Some posters are hoping that rounding decimals to the nearest whole number won’t be allowed next year.

OP the joke's on your kid. They easily could have still gotten an A with a 89.5 MP and 79.5 MP2. Next time tell them not to work so hard 2nd period.
