Amalfi boat tours- what to wear

Anonymous
We are going to Sorrento end of June and will be taking a boat tour to Capri. We have opportunities to swim/snorkel and there is free time to walk around the island as well. My question is regarding attire. For those of you who have gone on these tours, did you wear a swim suit and coverup or wear regular clothes and then bring your swim suit? Are there places to change? My preference would be not to explore or eat in lunch in a restaurant in a wet swim suit, of course. Any advice is much appreciated.

Swimsuit with a sundress as a cover up.

It’s so freaking hot that you will dry off quickly.

Swimsuit cover up.

No one thinks you are royality

You'll be packed so close to all the other tourists that you won't be able to see each other.

Wear whatever you want.

What an odd assumption. I don’t want to be dressed inappropriately when walking through Capri. In some places, a beach coverup would not be appropriate in a restaurant.

Yeah seriously. Wear what you’d wear anywhere else on a boat like this.

How do people operate in their daily lives?

OP I didn’t go to Capri while we were there, but I ate at a few beachside places in cover ups. In Conca dei Marini I definitely did. I don’t think anyone will bat an eye as long as it looks like plausibly like a dress.

Trust me. You will be fine.

Me again: make sure your sundress is a lightweight fabric that dries quickly. Don’t put it on until you are getting off the boat so your swimsuit can dry.

Regardless, everyone will be a sweaty mess and look wet all the time.

And if you are really concerned, bring underwear so you can take off your bikini and change in the restaurant restroom.

Or wear a coverup/dress that doesn't require anything underneath.

Have you traveled to Italy? In most places where ladies go out on a boat, they bring a bag with change of clothes, etc. In Italy you are limited to what you bring since you need smaller suitcases to navigate the trains/cobblestone streets, etc. and ladies most likely aren't bringing a boat day bag with them in their luggage. I don't think its odd to ask what is appropriate to wear around Capri.

A cute coverup or dress to throw over a bathing suit will work.

Not op but I loled because my body requires things underneath, not the dress!

We went on a private boat so I guess you could have changed in the belly of the boat. We did not. Just threw on a dress/cover up. The place we stopped for lunch was sort of a beach club/restaurant so it wasn’t weird to be wearing that attire because people not having lunch were in and out of the water or lounging 10 feet away. Capri itself is crowded like Disney World. It’s not an empty runway or anything. The sit down restaurants do have bathrooms where you could change.
