I'm 57, 5'6" and overweight at 190#. (Working on it.) also, very small busted (34B) and round slopey shoulders.
I have been unable to find a dress that looks acceptable for several years. I tend to wear skirt/skort with t-shirts. Would like to have something nicer to wear. What style dress works on a body with these dimensions? That also isn't 8" above the knee. Thanks. |
Have you fit & flare dresses? I’m a pear shape and that’s what style looks best on me. |
I think you have the height to do a midi dress and something more structured with sleeves that gives you illusion of a broader top. Sleeveless will just accentuate the narrow/slopey shoulders and make your hips look wider than they would. This is just an example of style. I searched midi with puff sleeves.

The double cotton gauze dresses at Pact are nice, I am not the same as you but pear shaped with wide hips and they look nice on me. |
You just read my mind -- I was about to post this. I'm newly obsessed with this brand. |
This dress skims the hips and pretty much only works for a smaller chest: https://www.marinelayer.com/collections/gals-dresses/products/camila-midi-dress-3?variant=41732492951626
I’m 5’4” 145 with wide hips, narrow rounded shoulders and 36C and the size M is perfect, just to give you an idea of sizing. |
Tuckernuck. |
I like many of the dresses at Quince - especially the cotton gauze ones. |
What? No. That is a caftan. That is the opposite of what OP needs. |
Disagree with this- fellow pear shape - this will make the hips look huge as the fabric will drape over the hips/butt. A fit and flare is better. |
