Trump's recent reversals...he is weaker than we think

Those of us who take every single thing Trump says and does seriously need an occasional reminder that, besides being a showman, he is a transactional person for whom everything is negotiable. Yes, expect the worst from him and prepare for the worst, but remember that he is a weak person masquerading as a tough one. Below are two of his most recent policy reversals--feel free to add more. There are so many.

1) Trump said he wanted ALL "illegals" deported--every last one--except for the ones he finds useful or for whom business leaders have advocated. Most recently, he has said companies employing farmworkers and leisure workers have been hit badly and he will issue an order to address that.

2) Remember a mere two weeks ago when Trump attacked Chinese students in the US and the administration announced it would “aggressively” revoke Chinese student visas? Yeah, well that's not happening. This week the Trump informed us that the U.S. deal with China is done, and Beijing will supply magnets and rare earth minerals while the U.S. will allow Chinese students to study here. How do all the MAGA in this forum feel about his about-face on allowing "Chinese communist spies" to steal our intellectual property? (Not my words; I don't have a problem with Chinese students studying here).

He has threatened to tariff everything and every country but has carved out exemptions for these items..I'm sure more exemptions will follow:

Semiconductors and Electronics: Smartphones, computers, chips, and solar cells (exempted April 12, 2025).

Pharmaceuticals: All drugs and medical compounds.

Copper and Critical Minerals: Copper, high-purity silicon, rare earth elements.

Energy and Petroleum: Petroleum and energy resources.

Thank you! I’m a centrist and when Newsom moderated his position on trans athletes I celebrated it, not mocked it. These people always trying to score points and dunk on the other team - when “their team” doesn’t even care about them in the first place are why too many Americans don’t vote. Politics in this country is so lame.

Except he isn't. ICE is still ICEing and there is still a US Marine corps unit on the streets of Los Angeles and people who have been kidnapped have not been released.
