Failing grads at Pomona College

Seems the market is rough for California students these days. Some of the best students at the college are barely getting into good graduate programs and seem to be at the lowest rung. I wouldn't recommend attending, unless you have legacy connections and $.

I can't even tell whether this trolling endeavor is anti-Pomona or sarcastically pro-Pomona. The kids listed in the link are going to great places (Cambridge, Brown, etc.) and include a Fulbright winner. Either way, it's a dumb post.

lowest rung?

Would you stop? Your advisors are the most important in terms of Ph.D programs, not the name of the school.

You think there’s something unique happening in California? It’s rough all over.

Scam programs for students who can’t get jobs. This is serious. Clearly these students should’ve gone to a place with better recruitment if these are the outcomes for the “top” grads.

The grads are getting multiple awards and fellowships…I don’t get it.

I sure hope my DC doesn't become a Downing Scholar at Cambridge or get a Fulbright. How embarrassing! At least none of these poor kids is suffering the indignity of a Rhodes scholarship.

and sadly, some poor senior did get a Rhodes this year! Absolutely tortured students at an elite liberal arts college!

Good lord! How does Pomona even remain accredited?

Sorry but elite? Most people have never heard of it. Elite grads go into Quant Finance and IB, not UC Davis....

And brief moment of silence for OP who obviously isn't familiar with how graduate schools and PhD programs work.

These grads are all going to do very well.
