USYS National Championship

I know this will turn into, I didn't know Rec had a NC ... but...with so many clubs moving from USYS this year to either GA, GA-A, ENCL-RL and a few to ECNL and many of those clubs having teams that qualified for the USYS NC in July, how do you think the event will go? Will those teams still honor that invite? Will they send their 2nd teams or a mixture or will they just tell USYS "we're good, find a replacement?"

I can only imagine the repsonses, but i am curious.

They will all go. It’s still a great event with high level of competition. Also, a bunch of teams play in both GA and USYS- they just register under two names. Like Columbus United (currently 2010s ranked 15th in country) plays in both GA and USYS, but calls themselves the Lions in the latter.

Additionally, since you often qualify for the playoffs a year before, teams that changed recently to GA/ECNL are still playing in the playoffs and finals a year later.

The correct answer is already above. That said, I guess some may quibble with calling USYS NLC Rec ... Their top-level teams can and do beat teams in the elite leagues. In a lot of ways, the NLC, especially pre-E64, was and is a better system of competition than the rest, because they actually do promotion and relegation, so all the teams are a similar high level who earned their spot. When they added E64, that system lost a bit of depth but remains still fairly strong. Many of their best players end up in the "elite" leagues because USYS college recruiting is where it's been lacking (They've tried to improve but it's still far behind). Ahh the good ole days. Thanks for the trip down memory lane before DA took over and quickly folded causing this current landscape. How is this list relevant today….

It's more than just that list. Kids who play USYS NL continue to excel and end up on MLSN/GA/ECNL top teams.
