Thoughts on Pulisic skipping the Gold Cup?

No. Let's find new talent, lose the Gold Cup in the process and lower expectations going into the World Cup. He needs to rest.

He wins the Scudetto with Milan and then takes us into the QF's of WC 2026 and USA will love him more than participating in the Gold Cup.

Gold Cup is an opportunity to evaluate new talent. Normally, neither the USMNT or USWNT typically field the best 11 for these events.

Superstars like Pulisic are given a pass as they are lock-in for a starting spot. But now they are making room to look at other players, the positions rotate.

There are some social media stories saying this is a bad look, but that is just media non-sense (pot stirring) and it is completely normal.

Players do need rest and they do need a break. It is all part of managing a squad. But some media outlets will make bigger deal out of this than it is.

Can those players walk when they are 45? I truly do appreciate our soccer calendar become year-round but it has to be taxing on the players.

One thing matters - the World Cup. Let the man rest this summer and prep for an insane year next year.

Of the teams in the cup exactly two should be competitive with us plus randomly Panama. Almost no one in the US cares about it either (any more than I care about the ridiculous League Cup with Mexico).

Its also a great chance for the new kids to try and shine ahead of the WC selection.

Most likely the media outlet who makes the biggest deal about it is Fox Sports. The longer the US stays in the competition, the more viewers they will have. The more first team players in the squad, the more viewers they will have. I am honestly sick of watching the US always play Canada, Mexico, Panama, and Jamaica no matter who is in the squad.

Yes many many many times. They just don’t get called up so they can rest and no one has a problem with it.
