CNN's Anderson Cooper interviewed actor George Clooney on the set of his Broadway play, "Good Night, and Good Luck," which is focused on Edward R. Murrow's famous battle with Senator Joseph McCarthy. Clooney discussed why people are coming to the play and what he predicts will happen to "Trumpism" in the GOP after President Trump's second term ends. Watch CNN’s special presentation of George Clooney’s “Good Night, and Good Luck” on Saturday, June 7 at 7pm ET streaming live on CNN.com. Fascinating. George acts, and is the expert. Thank G-d we have such experts advising us. |
I mean, are grifter and reality show star better qualifications for contemplating the future? |
George is a sweet guy, but he’s no intellectual. |
The American voters said yes, twice. Perhaps GC should throw his hat into the ring. Surely with his natural intelligence, he can win the presidency twice? Right? |
All he said was that Trump is a celebrity and this is a cult of personality, and once the personality dies there won’t be a replacement. I don’t think that’s controversial. |
It's fairly obvious this is how it'll play out. There is no cult leader waiting in the wings to replace him. This is a one-off phenom, and the clock is rapidly ticking on him. We're already into summer, and that's going to fly by like always... |
News Flash: MAGA is here to stay. Just watch. |
They were always here, but who is going to inspire them next? Vance? Cruz? Rubio? DeSantis? Youngkin? They don't have a legit replacement. |
The best thing I can say about GC is that Ocean’s Eleven was an okay movie. |
Speak for yourselves. |
No one else has the magic sauce. |
So we will accurately designate them as a far right extremist group. |
Guess he needs a podcast to express an opinion? Why are Alex Jones or Joe Rogan free to express an opinion but not Clooney. Oh right because “free speech” only applies to MAGA. |
Yep that’s the problem. Trump is MAGA and MAGA is Trump. Trump has no loyalty to anything other than himself. Not to the country, not to the Republican Party either. He will never endorse a successor, will never promote a rival to a high position (with the slight exception of Marco Rubio as SoS). He barely seems to know Vance, and likely he felt the same way about Mike Pence. Didn’t know them, didn’t want to give them high profile assignments, didn’t care. When Trump is out of office, there will be a whole bunch of factions of MAGA vying to be the next big thing. It’s already a fairly fragile alliance between the tech bros and the old school Christian nationalists and garden variety RWNJ’s. The MAGA sentiments will always be there … but what’s a movement without a leader? |
Hahaha. Same here. |
