Hey remember when MAGA was claiming that when doctors were letting women die instead of giving lifesaving care, they were just doing it to make Republicans look bad, and of course Republicans want doctors to perform emergency abortions to save the life of the mother?

The previous guidance from the Biden administration does not “reflect the policy of this Administration,” according to an announcement of the policy change.

CMS added that it will continue to enforce the federal Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act, known as EMTALA, and it specified that the policy included “identified emergency medical conditions that place the health of a pregnant woman or her unborn child in serious jeopardy.”

CMS still applies so calm down.

I read the article. The grandma wants the baby to be born. I hadn’t thought of that angle. This whole thing is tragic and cruel but if the baby does live, I feel better knowing the baby will be wanted and the grandmother will find some peace in that.

There is no change in hospital requirements. In states with abortion bans, the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) requires hospitals to provide abortion care if it's necessary to stabilize a patient's condition during a medical emergency. This federal law generally takes precedence over state laws, including those that ban abortion, when a patient's life or health is at risk. Period. This is just more liberal melodrama.

Well a woman who required lifesaving care due to pregnancy is probably not going to get pregnant again. So if she is no longer a baby machine, what good is she to the GOP?
