teacher hours and excercise

Anonymous
I'm a teacher and looking at gym memberships.

My work hours are 8:30-3:25.

The gym has group classes at 8:00-11:00 and then they pick up again at 5:30-9:00.

Should I even bother?? My thought was to go either before or after school.

Find a different gym. Lots of places have classes that start as early as 5 am.

Agreed. I can't believe there's a gym with no class options before 8:00 am. When i worked in a school, I could definitely get in a class and get to work several mornings a week.

Either find a diff gym or work out at home with a class from YouTube or peloton.

Do you have to do group classes? I workout on my own at 5am every day.

I have also done OTF in the past and they have classes starting as early as 5am. teacher friend does the 6am one.

Former teacher here. I always had to exercise in the morning - was too tired after work.

Do you have to do classes? Can you workout on your own on the gym machines? Go for a run/walk? Workout at home?

Another former teacher here.

My contract hours ended shortly after 3. I would run outside when the weather was nice, and I'd take a gym bag to work to make that easier.

I also went to the gym after school -- it worked better for my schedule to work out while my own kids were in sports/after-school activities.

I agree your gym might not be a good fit for you. I also take a 6 AM group class weekly, and I don't think they are hard to find in the DMV.

It’s summer, I would just take a walk in a park for an hour. No need to go crazy.

Do you have a question? This makes no sense. The evening hours are not during schooltime.
Nobody knows if you should bother except you. Bot teacher?

Look for a different gym. I take a class at 7:30am on Saturdays which rarely gets in the way of anything but I have a teen now

If the gym is close to school it sounds like you could get there before the rush and get a good workout in. If you need/want classes, maybe look for places that on;y do classes or look at county-run classes.

I am a teacher and I work out in the evenings at home. I go to one evening yoga class once a week at 6:30. And a cardio class on Saturday mornings. In the summer I will move my workout to morning.

I am confused why you can’t go home, change, and then be at the 5:30 class. Alternatively, you don’t need a class at all, just get a good workout program and be at the gym before school like most of us do.

I go to the gym straight after school. I honestly don’t know anything about the classes the gym offers. I just work out myself.
