Reasonable amount to pay a kid to cut your lawn?

By kid I mean a 19 year old. Takes about an hour to cut it. Push lawnmower - NOVA.

$80.

More if bagging and removing the cut grass is required.

I pay $40 to a 16 year old but he’s a friend of family so not sure if that’s the going rate. He comes and brings his own mower and edger too so I figure I am paying for wear and tear on that as well as his time. Might be a little over an hour.

Why would any kid want to push a manual mower for an hour?

I imagine you’d have to offer double rates for that.

His lawnmower or yours?

Apparently I am seriously underpaying my own teenager. Holy moly. Don't tell her you are paying $50 for this. Yikes.

If it is your kid, zero. That’s an expectation. If it’s a stranger, maybe $40. They are not trained, after all.

We pay a service $50. Ride-on mower that takes less than 30 mins. But that should include edging imo.

2 or 3 times minimal wage, which in VA is $12 an hour.

You're insane.

We have an acre in McLean, and a professional service that edges and weeds. That's what we pay.
