One glass of wine turns into 3 with me…but not with beer.
What is wrong with me? |
| You’re an alcoholic. |
| Try filling your wine glass with seltzer or something after your first glass. You might just like the ritual and feeling of drinking out of the glass. |
|
It's the open bottle effect. with a beer, you have 'open another bottle." Or a mixed drink, you have to go and actively make a drink. With wine, you just "pour a little more."
Stop buying wine, or try single serve bottles. |
| I've trying to do better and drink water between drinks. |
If this person is an alcohol, then DC is filled to the brim with them. Most people I know can drink 4 or 5 glasses of wine and not think about it twice. |
Yes there are many alcoholics in DC. |
You’re fine. You just like wine more. |
This sounds plausible. |
Hello child of alcoholic |
| It’s because the bottle is open. If you open another bottle, just have one more glass you wouldn’t. |
| What do you think drives you to get another glass? Are you trying to numb negative feelings? It has helped me to associate my negative feelings with a person I don't like and tell myself I am not going to let that person win by destroying my body. |
| As an alcoholic I wouldn’t say OP is one…yet. But if 3 turns into 5 or 6 sometimes, or this is daily and you don’t feel like you can stop at any time, or your thoughts are otherwise on wine/drinking a lot….you are getting there. |
There are good nitrogen type cork things where one is able to "re-cork" it with the device, and purge the air in the bottle and replace it with nitrogen, so the wine stays fresh for even months after being initially uncorked. Great way to enjoy a $1000 bottle of wine without having to use it all at once. |
| This is the classic Lay's, can't eat just one chip. And I agree with the previous posters, it's because you are opening a bottle. This is the reason why I buy single serve packages of chips. There is a mental hurdle to open another 2 ounce bag of chips that stops or slows me down. Maybe buying a single serving of wine will help slow you down. |
