We are set on purchasing an Outback. (No, I'm not interested in other cars, we've test driven everything we wanted to consider.) Anyone got a recommendation for a dealer in northern VA? Also - were you able to get a good deal? How much off the MSRP? We are looking at the 2.5i Premium or Limited editions. I'd like the moonroof...
Thanks! |
| Stohlman's. |
Good dealership. Good service. |
| Don Beyer in Alexandria VA. |
| what's your budget? |
| If you are a member of AAA, do pricing through them. It will be at least $100 below invoice. I just bought a VW at Stohlman, but I also drove the Outback there. We dealt with Carroll (a man), and he seemed good and honest. |
Bought my 2010 Forester from Don Beyer, and got a deal. My husband did the negotiating, had some internet offer from another dealership that Don Beyer matched. I think we got a discount for buying the car with cash, but I wasn't paying attention to paperwork. Love the Outback! I adore my Forester, but the Outback is really nice with the new 2010 body style. Good choice! |
| PP, not to hijack, but could you mention please what you enjoy most about your Forester? We're considering it, and think it has great potential, but don't know of anyone who's owned one before. |
We can afford the car. I just want to get a decent deal without a ton of haggling. DH is NOT a good negotiator, and I'm not so hot at it either. |
Do you happen to be a member of USAA? They have car buying services that will negotiate for you- you tell them the features that you want and they find the car in your area with a guaranteed price, no haggling on your end required. Of course they want you to do financing through them, and car insurance, so they are motivated to get your business. we didn't use their financing, (but do use USAA car insurance) and got a great deal. it is a good option for people (like me) who hate haggling. |
| I posted in the recent Subaru Outback thread, and don't want to disrupt the discussion there. Could any readers please comment on their experiences with the Forester? We're considering this car (2010 for regular commuting/longer driving trips (e.g., 9-10 hours)/possible family vehicle. It seems to be a good sized car, offering more room than a sedan while not being a huge vehicle choice. We'd probably get a manual, so if anyone happens to have one with manual transmission and can comment, thank you for that, too. |
| sorry! PP here, I meant to put this in separate thread ... |
| Credit unions also have car buying services, as does Costco. It might be worth a look. |
AAA pricing was better than Costco for us recently. |
| Outbacks are pretty in demand, not sure what kind of deals exist right now. I was looking at cars over the summer, and I get the deal vibe for other cars but not the Outback. So if you don't get one, did beat yourself up over it! Great car. I had one for a decade. |
