Anyone else not liking the new Kirkland liquid dish detergent formula?

Anonymous
It's a clear gel now rather than the white formula. I'm finding that it's not as effective, but I'm also using a different dishwasher in a new house.

Anyone else use this and notice a difference?

I use Kirkland too and I posted a couple of weeks ago asking for tips on getting my dishwasher to clean better.

Then I read an article in last Sunday's NY Times about new regulations lowering phosphates in dishwashing detergents. Apparently this helps make them greener. The trade-off is that they don't clean as well.

I assume that this is going to hit everyone.

Thanks, PP. This makes sense.

By the way, I am using a rinse aid too and that seems to help.

phosphates - same with eco-friendly and tres expensive salon products!

So forget about "squeaky clean" hair.

We tried it in 3 different dishwashers and it kept leaving this white film on the dishes even WITH jet dry. Switched to Cascade and everything is working great now.

It is junk, even with Jet Dry. I gave up and tossed it. Cascade works great.

The new Kirkland Dishwasher Gel actually cleans much butter, BUT it has a very powerful fragrance, that smells like a woman's perfume , and permeates the kitchen and adjoining room. It also remains on the glasses and cups, even after the rinse cycle. When drinking from the glass or cup,,you can still smell the fragrance and it changes the taste of whatever you are drinking. I do not know how safe the ingredient is that hey use to create this fragrance, but I doubt that it is safe to ingest. Posted 12/28/12

I have liked the detergent just fine till the new formula came out. The odor is awful and it does affect the smell and taste of the dishes. Plastics especially. They failed on this one.

I agree. We thought it was a problem with our dishwasher and then realized that the smell/taste was coming from the "new and improved" Kirkland dishwasher detergent

Yes. The Kirkland single serving size packs work great for our Dw and the big bottle of gel does not work. Also don't need rinse aid with the packs.
