If AI is more intelligent than people, then it will end religion, which is all about fear and power and plays into to people's desire to live forever.

We can have AI robots that give better sermons than ordinary humans

If AI is more intelligent, it would claim divinity.

Mediocre content and delivery of priests/Imams/Rabbi are the reason most lose interest in attending service to hear sermons.

In the Catholic Church, it's a mortal sin to miss mass - unless that's changed since the last time I went to mass, eons ago.

And it wasn't because the sermons were boring. Sermons were never a reason to go to church. I just didn't believe anymore.

Probably true, because AI knows that people are gullible and will believe in a god, or at least say they believe in a god, if that's what the god wants, and if the people perceive they will be better off in life if they say that they believe.

Perhaps not all of us. Religion (to me) is about happiness and fulfillment - certainly not fear and living forever.

AI won’t change a thing. My faith is internal.

Don't you believe you will live forever in heaven with God?

Sure, but that’s not WHY I am faithful. The PP said religion is all about a desire to live forever (and fear). Neither of those are true for me.

And, on point, AI doesn’t change a thing.

People can be, and are, happy and fulfilled without religion. Only religion offers the opportunity to live forever, as long as you're good. So it comes with the package. It's easy to say that you don't care about the living forever part, but if you do religion correctly, you get to live forever. That's what Christians believe, anyhow.
