Quick Q - period swimwear/awkward day of period

First Q - what stores keep period swimwear in stock?

Second Q - does some of the period underwear out there - is it usable as period swimwear? Unsanitary or looks like it is underwear?

Background - my teen is going to a pool party. It’s an awkward part of the period- definitely still there - but it doesn’t seem like enough for a tampon. Advice??

Third Q - could she wear a tampon at this stage? Personally, I avoid, but i sort of have heavy to nothing periods too..like a cliff that drops off from heavy to nothing. she’s quite light even on the first heavy day. And now it’s day 4.

She is disappointed and angrily rejecting my idea for sitting by the poolside and just dipping her legs in water.

I have time to get her period swimwear if it’s around in target, sporting goods stores, etc.

First summer of period, so. She has figured out tampons but so far it’s so light that she already sticks to light absorbency.

Just wear a tampon if she can. It’s not going to hurt anything if it’s “not enough”

What is your hang up with using a tampon if it’s not a heavy flow day? There is no danger to using a tampon at the tail end of a period when your flow isn’t heavy.

Use tampon designed for a light flow day. How have we lived for the past 50 years?

As others have said, tampon use is fine on a light day.

BUT, depending on how many days until the party, there are some good period bathing suits on Amazon that you can get in 1-2 day delivery.

We also know another kid who just wears period underwear under her other bathing suits.

Use a tiny skinny tampon. Nobody wants her blood trailing her in the water

For a couple hours at a pool party, using a tampon regardless of flow is the right thing to do.

I'm just in complete shock you know the level of heaviness of a teenager's period. You seem overly involved. Tell her you'll get her whatever she wants, and she decides - she is in control of how to handle her own period.
