Who decides graduation locations?

Why do some schools have graduation at EagleBank and others have it at Constitution Hall? Is it just based on PTA money or is there some sort of lottery system?

The large schools are very fortunate that they get to have graduation at Eagle Bank.

A few of the smaller schools are so unfortunate that they have to deal with the tiny venue, inconvenient location, and terrible parking of Constitution Hall.

I guess that is one of the benefits of going to a larger high school.

If your kids are at one of the schools that is unfortunate enough to be stuck with Constitutional Hall, I am sorry. It sucks that the smaller schools are inconvenienced in this way.

The four high schools that have graduations at DAR are closer to DC and/or tend to have smaller graduating classes. Beyond that it’s tradition more than anything else. Some really like DAR and others wish their kids were graduating elsewhere.

I can assure you that many Langley, McLean, Madison and Marshall families are happy their kids are graduating at DAR rather than at Eagle Bank, but at the end of the day the location really doesn’t matter so much. Kids would be happy graduating on their football field as long as they’re graduating.

Is there anyway we can change this? Madison family here, anything would be better than DAR. I’d happily take the football field for my younger kid over driving to DC and dealing with that parking.

The DAR is more beautiful than a big impersonal looking stadium. Be happy, take an Uber, cab, or Metro.
