Why is our graduation at Eagle Bank???!!!

I thought all FCPS Schools graduated at DAR. Apparently not. Our school is doing their ceremony at GMU. Seriously? A horrendous venue in a mediocre part of Fairfax County. The arena is a literal box and feels like a warehouse more than a venue. Horrendous lighting and acoustics. FCPS is again cutting corners.

Why is your graduation at another venue? I grew up elsewhere and ours was in the grounds (or auditorium if raining) of our own HS

Actually, almost no FCPS schools graduate at DAR - only four. The majority graduate at Eagle Bank.

Given the stories I've heard about traffic, timing, accessibility, etc. I'd actually prefer my kid wasn't going to be graduating at DAR (my older one graduated at Jiffy Lube Live due to COVID and, name aside, I thought it was a great choice). The grass is always greener, I suppose.

It's a high school graduation, OP. No one cares. Our MCPS high school is trying out a new venue, UMBC. It's a bit far, and apparently it's going to be a factory-style thing because another high school is graduating after ours, so we'll be shooed out of there pronto. My son's graduating class is more than 700. It's NOT going to be pleasant no matter how hard they try.

I really don't know why people attach so much importance to proms, graduation ceremonies, etc. In the grand scheme of things, none of these are important.

Only the top high schools get DAR as their graduation venue. McLean, Langley, Madison, Marshall.

Eagle Bank is for the riffraff.

I love Eagle Bank Arena. The parking is so easy and in ample supply. It’s even easy to leave after an event. The arena holds so many fond memories of shows, sports, concerts, etc. that the kids have gone to over the years, it’s a great place to have a ceremony!

Most schools graduate at Eagle Bank.

All of the large schools graduate there.

OP is mortified because she'd already sold the graduation to relatives as a DAR event. Now she'll have to break the news. They will refuse to come. It will be a huge thing.
