GLP-1 Takers - are people really this rude in real life?

Anonymous
Like have actual people you know and talk to in real life said or implied the kind of nasty things that posters on DCUM say? Has this been a good way for you to weed out people you thought were friends but turned out to be very judgmental about health choices?
Anonymous
No one has been rude about it to my face.

Reactions have been curious or happy for me because I’ve had some health issues. but the majority of people I’ve told actually said “what’s that?”
I’m a little cautious of who I tell because I’m a teacher and feel like I’m flaunting money a bit.

I don't tell people. I'm sure they assume. It's none of their business.

Would never tell for this reason. If they don’t say it to your face they’ll be thinking it and I couldn’t bear it.

I've never had a conversation about this with anyone.

I keep my GLP-1 use a total secret.

Yep. I keep it a secret, but people who don't know I'm on it say terrible things.

I have had two doctors (gyn and gp) be extremely rude and judgmental about my use of it, even though I am under the care of a weight loss doctor in their same hospital system.

It’s complicated.

I have watched this guy at my gym for years workout with his personal trainer. In a year I witnessed him lose at least 100lb.

When I complemented his trainer randomly when he was not there; she kind of rolled her eyes and said “not me; pharmacist”…and explained that after 3-4 year of her working with him and free diet guidance only the drugs changed things.

I could give an f about this guy I see at the gym, but clearly his trainer had another view.

No. Never underestimate how many people troll online.

IRL, people either don’t care, want to know how to get it for themselves, or are happy for me.

It's so weird to me that someone like that wouldn't be willing to acknowledge how awesome that is.

I’m not on them, but I imagine most people would be curious or want to try it themselves.

Most Americans are overweight! Including me. As for rudeness, who even cares!

No. I’m not friends with a-holes.

I don't tell anyone except my husband. I expect to take a maintenance dose for the foreseeable future. I don't get why people are rude. Don't they want people to be healthy? If not, why not??

I have been on Wegovy for over a year and have lost 60 pounds. I have not experienced a single rude or judgmental comment.

I’m not big on discussing my medical information with anyone but my doctors though. So it doesn’t come up that much.
