Just go private — where admission may well be conditioned on redshirting your boy! |
So... rich people should get to have one set of rules, and then everyone below a certain income threshold plays by another? I cannot fathom why you think that's good policy. |
Some things just aren’t possible at scale in a large public system. |
Umm… it’s the current policy: private vs public. What you want is rich people on your team, and if you want that, you have to stop telling them to leave and go private. |
Or we could eat them? But in all honestly no you don't want every rich person on your team purely because they're rich. That's not a team that's indentured servitude. The idea that those without millions of dollars should be grateful that those with money dare to send their children to public school is silly and it's counterproductive. In the same way that pretending Liz Cheney is a good ally simply because she hates Trump. No one is telling this person to go private simply for being wealthy, they're telling her because she's trying to dictate an entire school system for herself. And maybe she'll have better luck in a private school, though apparently her private daycare didn't exactly prepare her kids for public school curriculum. |
It's so unfair how rich people get to flunk their kids. I guess only the offspring of the powerful get to spend an entire year being bored out of their skulls by lessons they should have learned a long time ago, surrounded by kids who are substantially more immature than them. |
Don’t be dense. No you don’t want all the rich people, but you do need enough. Pick the battles that move the needle, not the one that impacts not a child in your classroom… unless you’re saying that non-rich families also want to redshirt. |
Did you really step into the Cathedral grounds and think life is fair? |
This woman has gone to every newspaper to disparage the school and DCPS on more than one subject. I think this is pretty squarely a case of this particular person is causing more harm than good to everyone. And that battle seems worth it because ultimately there is nothing that will satisfy her that is not exactly her way. And no that's not worth it. |
Agreed. Also this lady would also annoy the crap out of whatever private her kids attended. Everyone knows parents like this, who think they know everything and should be in charge of everything and just harass everyone -- administrators, teachers, other parents, their own kids -- until they get their way. And usually their way doesn't even make sense and isn't even in their own kids best interest. It's just about them flexing their muscle and forcing people to bend to their will. It honestly has very little to do with redshirting, that's just the cause du jour for this nut job. Before this it was the playground, after this it will be something else, at whatever school her kids are at. Some people are just like this. |
Fine, but the impact has been any kid that CPS has been threatened on, and there have been some who are not hers, have quickly and quietly switched to private. Just like the many kids who wanted more challenging academics, and other policies that have over time led so many wealthy who started in public to private. |
