Kids 12 and 14 want to go somewhere for the memorial weekend. Any suggestions for places within a 4 to 5 hour drive each way? Would prefer a 3 hour or less drive but willing to go a bit further if needed.
We usually go to Ocean city but need a change. Have been to Virginia beach, Deep Creek, Hershey's, so kids are not interested in that. Planning a NYC trip for the summer so that's out too. I'm not sure they would like Chincoteague because of the mosquitoes. Have seen wild horses before, so that won't be a good draw for them. |
At that age, let them do some research and come to you with ideas. Surely their friends have done some fun things away from home. |

This is a great time to let the weather dictate where you go. I'd probably head towards NC for warmer temperatures. |
Sounds like you like the outdoors- what about Smith Mountain Lake? |
Williamsburg
Find a random cabin in West Virginia with a hot tub and good hiking nearby. Bring books and DVDs and stuff for s’mores. |
What kind of things do your girls like to do? |
Homestead or Colonial Williamsburg. |
Have you guys been to Pittsburgh?
