“The U.S. travel and tourism sector is the biggest sector globally compared to any other country, worth almost $2.6 trillion,” she says, citing WTTC and Oxford Economics data. According to Simpson’s data, direct and indirect tourism represents nine per cent of the American economy.” “The [lost revenue ] represent a decline of around seven per cent in visitor spending year-over-year, and a decline of 22 per cent since tourism reached its peak in the U.S. in 2019.” Apparently it is projected that tourism won’t recover to prepandemic levels until 2030. Maybe it makes sense to be nice to foreigners if 20 million jobs depend on tourism. ![]() |
Yup. All part of the Trump slump. So much economic misery inflicted by just one man. Elections have consequences. |
How much does it cost the US government to run for ONE day?
$18,000,000,000 |
The only thing republicans care about is how much money Trump makes. There is a new EO coming out that will give Trump 10% of all tax dollars. Republicans are super excited! |
And this 10% will be considered a "tip" so Trump himself will not be taxed on it. |
Ok? |
Tell that to the cleaners, waiters, chambermaids - the folk who rely on precarious hospitality work to make ends meet, and now the ends don’t meet. |
The USA has detained tourists and even legal residents for weeks as if they were criminals and deported them without explaining why. ICE has targets to deport people that it can’t meet and that makes any non-citizen vulnerable. Treat people like garbage and they’ll avoid you like the plague.
https://newhampshirebulletin.com/2025/05/09/nashua-german-american-returns-home-after-being-detained-for-two-months-by-ice-family-says/ Schmidt was born in Germany but has lived in the U.S. since he was a teenager. He is a legal permanent resident with a green card. On March 7, Schmidt, who currently lives in New Hampshire, was returning from Luxembourg when immigration officials detained him at Boston Logan International Airport and took him to the Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls, Rhode Island, according to his attorney. His family told reporters and attorneys that upon being detained, Schmidt was stripped naked, placed in a cold shower, violently interrogated, denied his medication for anxiety and depression, and given little food or water. They said officials asked him to relinquish his green card, and they didn’t know why he was being detained. |
yup and lots of MAGA crying that they didn't know it would be this bad.... |
What are you trying to say????? |
Don't sweat the small stuff. |
Gaining 10 trillion in manufacturing investments
|
So even with these gains, we have a net loss? |
Is it small stuff? These lost tourism dollars equal more than 13% of Elon Musk’s wildly inflated estimate of DOGE’s savings. |
And that’s just for 2025. |
