It doesn’t have to be a “cozy” mystery (though I like those too), it could be a bit of a thriller. But, I don’t want a lot of blood/gore or a serial killer etc. Maybe more where the crime is about a personal relationship gone wrong.
Some recent shows we have liked: - Mare of Easttown - Undoing - Big Little Lies - Only Murders |
The Killing
The Night Of Veronica Mars (sort of) |
The Perfect Couple
I’m seconding Veronica Mars, especially season one. For something fun: The Residence and The Afterparty. |
+1 for The Killing
The Thing About Pam (it almost comes across as a comedy but the series actually leaves out some of the craziest details of the actual case). The Affair Sinner Broadchurch (though I can only vouch for the first season) |
+1 Broadchurch, The Killing
Doctor Foster, Season One Top of the Lake Unbelievable True Detective: Night Country Fargo Season 5 The Night Of The Staircase For something lighter: Poker Face |
Adolescence
True Detective - the first season is some of the best television ever. Season 3 and 4 (Night Country mentioned above) are also good. I heard bad things about Season 2 so I skipped. |
Happy Valley |
Have you watched the American Crime Stories about OJ? And Versace? And Clinton? |
C.B. Strike (Max) |
so many BBC shows |
Unforgotten |
Mrs Davis sort of fits this format - and it's so so good, and criminally underwatched. Betty Gilpin is a nun solving the mystery of how to take down a ubiquitous AI called Mrs Davis - who is hunting her back.
It's only one beautiful, hilarious, surprising season. |
The Killing and The Sinner are both excellent. I thought The Perfect Couple was awful.
|
The Good Place sort of fits |
Watson got good. |
