| Looking at a Tahoe for a family with three kids age 11-15. For those who have owned Tahoes, have you been happy with the reliability? That’s key to me. I’ve always had Toyota/Lexus, and looking for something with similar reliability. I also need space, so that’s why I am leaning Tahoe. |
| A Toyota Sienna will have more space than a Tahoe. |
A japanese minivan is more practical and yet the least cool thing on the planet. I think it is a great car a married couple who both drive it. My wife has a GMC SUV and loves it as all the bells and whistles she likes, drives nice and lots of room. Lots of comfort features. I like it as when I borrow it or drive it dont feel like I am driving a womens car or Dad mobile minivan. So kinda good for Married couples where Dad and Mom both drive. I know everyone loves Toyota but bottom line does it really matter if a Chevy Tahoe may last 16 year and 180K miles versus 20 years and 200K miles for a Toyota to a new car buyer? |

I have a 2023; there's been a ton of issues with engines in the latest generation; GM just recalled 600,000 of them this week. I haven't had issues with mine (yet) but expect to get the recall letter next month and dread having to deal with an engine swap at the dealer.
I came from a Lexus GX and certainly miss the tank like reliability; Lexus/ Toyota has had their own issues with engines as models are refreshed. Its honestly not a great time to buying a car if your looking for reliability. Too much emphasis on fuel economy and performance vs reliability. |
| They are not reliable and I bet the crappy plastic interior and shaking and rattling will drive you insane. They have good engines but the finishes are c+ at best. |
Some people don’t want to be seen driving a minivan though. |
This is a misstatement of the facts. It's more accurate to say a Tahoe lasting 150K vs a Toyota lasting 250K. And the Tahoe feels like it's falling apart after 100K. Ask me how I know. |
OP claimed to be concerned about space. |
| I had a Yukon, which is basically the same thing. It broke all of the time and I got rid of it after 3 years because I hated it so much. |
that is only on the one engine and the new models dont have that issue. Yes a very very big recall. But nothing to do with new models being sold. |
Have to get the Denali. It is all upselling. I have a GMC Denali Ultimate. Bought it one year old from GM Dealer. Interior much nicer than base. If you want to not get the Yukon engine the 2025 Chevy Traverse is all new and gets better mileage for less price. The Inside is GIGANTIC. I saw on in parking lot yesterday and had to walk over to look. https://www.chevrolet.com/suvs/traverse |
Just because the 2025s aren't included in the recall *yet* doesn't mean they won't also be affected. And it's not like this an isolated blemish on an otherwise long history of building reliable cars. |

that is only on the one engine and the new models dont have that issue. Yes a very very big recall. But nothing to do with new models being sold. I'd trust tap water in Mexico before trusting GM that the 25's won't have the same problem |

If worried get the 2026 Tahoe all new no issues what so ever.
Or get the 2025 not with the engine that has issue. Or even better dealerships are taking in late model 2023-2025 Tahoe trades at full value for folks concerned who have that engine. GMC is not reselling those till engine replaced or issue resolved. Those Tahoes will be deals as dealers have them piling up. Or just get the 2025 Acadia or Traverse. Same size in side at less price and a all new model. Here are the best full sized SUVS rated. https://www.caranddriver.com/rankings/best-suvs/full-size |
