Republicans target a federal anti-hunger program as they prepare Trump’s tax cuts for the rich

Nothing signals a big FU from the rich to the poor like Republicans cutting food stamps to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy.

Republicans target a federal anti-hunger program as they prepare Trump’s tax package.

House Republicans on Monday proposed a series of sharp restrictions on the federal anti-hunger program known as food stamps, seeking to limit its funding and benefits as part of a sprawling package to advance President Trump’s tax cuts.

The proposal, included in a draft measure to be considered by the House Agriculture Committee this week, would require states to supply some of the funding for food stamps while forcing more of its beneficiaries to obtain employment in exchange for federal aid.

It's Trump's world.

Tax cuts for billionaires yes.
Food stamps for hungry families no.

Stop saying "to pay for tax cuts".

The spending cuts don't come close to paying for tax cuts. Trump and the Rs are ravaging Americans and ALSO running up massively more national debt to benefit the oligarchs.

Very true. "As they prepare Trump's tax cuts" as in the subject is correct.

How those evangelical churches are raising all that money they are going to need to pay for people's food and medical bills.

Yes they have to raise the debt ceiling to cover the tax giveaways to the rich. Combined with decimating the IRS and agencies like CFPB which were a net positive gov funding will be in worse shape ever.

77 million Americans don't care. Owning the libs and sticking it to George Soroa is their motivation in life.

How else can they afford to pay Musk and Doge to steal money and data from taxpayers?

Yeah, those “tax cuts” were never going to happen. More like charging us more taxes and getting basically nothing in return except a lot of high prices, disease, and hardship.

I.e. private investors, Japan, China and all the others who hold substantial chunks of US debt will at some point get spooked by this sh**show and dump our debt, and then we'll have an unprecedented economic crisis.

This is what Republicans are hoping for so they can force cuts to Medicare and Social Security.

How else can we return to the gilded ages? Which is the felon’s beautiful dream.

I'm a billionaire. How much lower tax rate am I paying next year vs this year?

I've been looking at the Medicaid bill in detail. A lot of it is intended to make it harder for people to even enroll, gets rid of the 3 month lookback when applying for medicaid (usually they will cover medical bills going back 3 months), the whole pain is to make it burdensome and difficult (while they also get rid of efforts to improve rural internet). People will give up, they will get sicker, they will end up in the hospital where social workers help them re-apply for benefits which they will again have trouble maintaining. Rural providers will be even more hard hit.

Some of this is because a very large percentage of Medicaid recipients are in managed care--either through medicaid expansion or because medicaid pays for their medicare advantage coverage, which should be prohibited if on medicaid. This can lead to overpayment through autopayments when people move to a different state or pass away. But that's an issue for insurers and the federal agency to resolve, not put it on the backs of the poor.
More regs for the poor and none for the rich is apiece of this.
