Waitlist Movement

If you got a call from your # 1 school choice today, would you switch?
Anonymous
Yes. Short-term pain for long-term gain.

Are you unhappy where you are, 10:39? Or just 'could be happier'?

The latter.

How would you know that your kid would like the teacher or school better? What are you using as your criteria?

Moved my child last year in November....Still at this school this year and plan to stay until 5th grade.

OP, here. We got a phone call today. There was no way I could say no. We were in the top 5 on the waitlist back in April. He will start at his new school tomorrow. Like 10:39 says, long term gain.

Where?

We moved our PreK son this week. OP, here's hoping that maybe you took OUR spot at the charter we just left. We really liked it there but think the school we left for will be a better fit for us. We nursed the guilt we felt for leaving by telling ourselves that some family will be really happy to get the spot. DC is nuts, right?!

I think it is terrible that you would move your child after the start of the school year. Sounds selfish.

Don't feed the troll.

Agreed. When military families get transferred and parents switch jobs out of jurisdiction, they should make their children commute back to school.

You're a buffoon. Run along now.

What if a kid at a JKLMMO school moved out in October? Would they pull a child from the waitlist?
Anonymous
I would definitely switch in a minute. While there is no guarantee that my DS would be happy in the new school, he is definitely not happy where he is now. It breaks my heart, but I feel like I have no other choice but to keep sending him there and to work like hell to get him into a better situation next year, even if that necessitates moving.
