...but apparently the Board should be all avowed Republicans and performances about 'edgy' subjects are not allowed.
"Any performer who isn't professional enough to perform for patrons of all backgrounds, regardless of political affiliation, won't be welcomed," Grenell added. "In fact, we think it would be important to out those vapid and intolerant artists to ensure producers know who they shouldn't hire - and that the public knows which shows have political litmus tests to sit in the audience." He continued, "The Kennedy Center wants to be a place where people of all political stripes sit next to each other and never ask who someone voted for but instead enjoy a performance together." |
Can you have this moved to rich people problems? It’s not politics. |
That ship has sailed, Ric. |
Hmm. I don't think the Broadway performers are rich people. |
Kennedy Center is not Broadway and the audience is mostly rich people. |
Did you read Grenell's comments about performers? He was reacting to Les Mis actors who plan to boycott performing on the night Trump attends. |
Has the dude even seen Les Mis?! Does he not understand what it’s about? Fools, the MAGA lot of them. |
Haha! Good point. |
Have you ever actually been to the Kennedy Center? I have. I’ve been to the free, frequent Millennium Stage performances, workshops and performances at the Opera House, the Family Theater, and other stages within the Kennedy Center. The Kennedy Center does an excellent job of offering a wide array of performances at a wide array of price points. That’s probably going to change with Trump, though. PP, perhaps you’re anticipating the Trump changes? |
The old “Shut up, Tom Hanks! Jon Voight has something to say!” rope-a-dope.
Conservatives have been doing this hypocritical horseshit for years … “Shut up, Dixie Chicks - just play music and stay outta politics! You were saying, Toby Keith?” “Dribble the ball and shut up, LeBron! Connor McGregor, what are your current views on immigration?” |
I think he is a fool. |
Agreed. You could raze the building tomorrow and it would never affect 99% of DC area residents. #richpeopleproblems |
I am not rich and I used to attend Kennedy Center often. KC offered a lot of free programs. I am not sure they still do as I have not been back post Covid. |
There was a KC musician on our community board giving away FREE tickets to the Steve Jobs musical on Fri and Sat night. I’m sure she wasn’t the only one. Can you imagine that happening before, on the best nights? LOL. I smells desperation. |
This. "We fired everyone with the most political statements ever, disparaged their character, and now you won't come watch apolitically with us? Stop politicizing everything!" |
