Do you guys call it “North Bethesda” as it’s own? Or do you consider it as Rockville

Title. I live at 20852, and I never knew probably until a month ago that my zip was also nicknamed North Bethesda, though a very small amount of my neighborhood actually calls it Rockville. I’m just curious.

North Bethesda is realtor speak.

I'm afraid that when I hear someone say it, my brain immediately subs in Rockville, and I pity them. Not for living in Rockville, there's nothing wrong with Rockville. But because it's a sure sign of a status-chaser who isn't happy with what they can afford. (I also knew someone who lived in Glover Park and called it "North Georgetown")

Bethesda is 10+ zip codes. The parts north of the beltway are called North Bethesda, like the WJ HS pyramid area.

Rockville is Rockville and a few miles and 270 exits north of that.

I always called it White Flint, and I still do. I don’t care if the mall is gone, but I’ve always sticked to that name.

Rockville has defined city limits. North Bethesda is just as legitimate as Bethesda, they are both census designated areas in the county (not a town or city).

I've lived here for 30 years, an I consider that area to be Rockville.

Crazy, right! It will take a generation or so of newcomers before no one snickers at that name change!

OP, the middle school off of Greentree Rd, just down from NIH and inside the beltway, is called North Bethesda Middle School. Now North Bethesda is apparently at the White Flint Metro, the neighborhoods like North Farm off of Montrose, and who know where else!

My GPS does not recognize North Bethesda. I always have to change it to Rockville.
