The trash and dumping problem is out of control in MoCo. Why is the county full of such lowlifes who think it is fine or OK to dump trash all over in public spaces? Everywhere you go now people seem to be dumping mattresses. Ride along the beltway closer to Takoma Park area and you constantly see matresses being dumped. Today I saw two new one trashed on the side of the road, which has been a regular occurrence now along the Beltway in MoCo. Worse, you can now see people dumping mattresses on county and local roads too, and they sit there for weeks and weeks. Such lowlife scum behavior. The most shocking part of it all too is the fact that bulk trash is free in MoCo, so there is quite literally no need to even dump. It's lazy people who don't want to call to pick up their trash, or they're renters who probably aren't allowed. Ughhh, it has gotten so much worse in MoCo over the last decade. So much trash and low class people everywhere in MoCo now. What happened to people in the county? Literally zero sense of basic social contract while living in a civilized society. Disgusting, abhorrent behavior. |
I live in Moco and I've never seen mattresses dumped in public spaces. Very clean. |
Was just about to post the same as PP. I live in Bethesda and drive down into NW DC, or up into Rockville, Gaithersburg, occasionally Silver Spring, Wheaton, or Olney. I've never seen a mattress! Or really any noticeable trash. |
I walk my neighborhood in Rockville and pick up trash every single day. It's disgusting. This is what happens when you bring different cultures together quickly, though. People also don't pick up their dog's poop. I do it for them because I hate looking at it and at empty Taco Bell bags and wrappers chucked out the window. I miss it when people thought littering was unacceptable. |
There are two mattresses right now on 495 headed towards I95. Right before Takoma park exit. Then there is another mattress on the sidewalk on New Hampshire Ave. Sitting there for weeks. If you drive along 495 in that direction enough, you'll constantly see mattresses being dumped on the side of the road. It happens constantly now. So much trash dumping everywhere in MoCo. Just disgusting. |
I too drive the beltway from River Rd to College Park and can’t recall ever seeing mattresses.
While I totally agree that Moco’s maintenance has gone to crap, I’m not sure that’s the problem. Moco needs to better maintain the streets and landscaping on major roads. All islands and sidewalks are just weeds at this point. Plant some flowers, cut the grass regularly and make it look nice. People treat nice things better |
Haven't you posted about these "mattresses" before? I drive that stretch of 495 about once a week, and I've never noticed them. But why don't you call 311 and report it? |
People need to be arrested and fined $20,000 per item dumped. Their punishment needs to include cleaning up garbage every weekend for a year. |
Stop rage posting. You'd squeal like a stuck pig if any of your minor infractions were punished excessively. |
MoCo used to be clean and it’s gone down hill. You used to never used to see trash and now it’s trash all over the place. |
There is a rusted fridge and dresser in the park by my house that wasn't there a few.days ago. People who trash are trash. |
That's normal when the population increases. Public services can't keep up. |
Well take comfort, because apparently Falls Church City has a similar problem:

Same. Someone came to the small park near us in MoCo and dumped a couch and recliner right in the street in front of the park. Ughhh. Just degenerate lowlifes. |
More people in a given area will do that.
If you want to live in an area with fewer people, move further out. But I suspect you don't want to do that. It's a little phenomenon called urbanization. |
