I do not know much about her, but I heard her on Ezra Klein’s podcast yesterday. Admittedly we come from very different backgrounds, but I was at a loss on why people praise her. Perhaps she reflects the emotion of her constituents, but her ideas are out of the mainstream and I don’t see how they benefit the generally. What am I missing? I like garbage pickup! |
Her views might be a departure from the cultish, deranged Democrat norm, but they are still extremely stupid. She seems sheltered, ignorant, and smug about it. |
Reed College grad, natch. |
She’s one of the few working people in Congress. A real small business owner. It’s a very purple district, almost red. She fits her district. |
Calling Democrats "cultish and deranged" is pure MAGA projection. |

Some highlights from Reddit:
She's the congresswoman from Washington District 4, exurbian Portlandia. Very Cascadia. West Coast version of (younger version of) Manchin / Blue Dog Democrat. She wants to shut down USA and return to frontier life. Maybe she's living her truth. Maybe her constitutients do too? She's not an advocate for suburban and urban lifestyles; that's for sure. Ear Warning: Ezra Klein doesn't know how to work his audio equipment. |

It's a Republican district, moron. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington%27s_3rd_congressional_district |
You can’t possibly read the political forum and be unable to find the interview. |
I found her refreshing. She isn't wrong from a lot of these issues. |
If we are driving our cars to 500k, using washing machines for 60+ years, and not buying our kids toys, what manufacturing jobs are we bringing to the U.S. because she wants that too. |
This is OP. Yes, these were some of the points that puzzled me. If she and her constituents want to live like that, that’s fine. But much of the country doesn’t. |
Who has an orange dear leader even Laura Ingraham compared him to North Korea? |
She’s doing her own form of virtue signaling for her constituents. Making it seem like people who live in cities are not Real Americans because they rely on garbage collection or buy their washing machine from a big box store.
She’s being condescending and arrogant instead of just admitting that different places require different ways of life. You’re not a better person because you take your garbage to the dump; you’d only say that if you knew your constituents had little self esteem. |
