A congressional report released yesterday slams the FBI investigation following the 2017 shootings of several republican members of the Congressional Baseball Team by James Hodgekinson, a registered Democrat and campaign volunteer who sometimes worked on behalf of Senator Bernie Sanders (Soc., VT). The report concluded the shooting was a “suicide by cop” rather than an attempt to murder GOP members of Congress, despite the fact that Hodgekinson had a “hit list” with names of prominent Republicans in his pocket when his body was recovered from the ball field in Alexandria, VA where he shot 6 members of the team including now Majority Leader Steve Scalise. https://intelligence.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1528 |

Comey, is my guess. I think this came out while he was still head of FBI (before Trump fired him). Of course, Comey also handed Trump the election in 2016 by breaking the rules of the 90 day quiet period, re: Clinton email server investigation. No good deed goes unpunished. |

I trust the FBI more than I trust a House committee, but I am a little surprised at this report. They should have nuanced their explanation and said something like: "like most mentally ill people who go on to be guilty of attempted mass murder, this man developed an obsession with a particular group - in this case, some right-wing politicians." In reality, it's a hate crime by a crazy lone wolf. They get it into their heads that one group is the uttermost expression of evil, and variously end up attacking Jews, Muslims, Asian (during the pandemic), Democrats (Pelosi's husband) or Republicans (this case). |

No one knew who was armed with what as a mob of hundreds forcefully breached security at our Capitol Building while most of our prominent Federal Government leaders were inside. Trump didn't know whether or not they were carrying bombs. What did our coward-in-chief do for three hours as this mob of angry unvetted people forced their way into our Capitol Building? Nothing. Just nothing. He refused to respond to pleas for his help for over three hours. Unimaginable behavior to all US Presidents who came before Trump. |
