Appeal Submitted – Any Confirmation?

Has anyone received an appeal confirmation email?

No. I called last week Wednesday I think, and he said they'd try to send something by end of week, but i didn't receive anything. Yesterday I submitted their Google form for ineligible decisions, asking for a confirmation. I might call again tomorrow.

If you were rejected, is there still a chance you could get an offer later? Did you appeal because of any special circumstances, like a technical issue during the test that was out of the student’s control? To be honest, it kind of just seems like a box full of parent complaints to me.

Kids get in on appeal all the time. Sometimes because they were able to add in a WISC score (this test must be proctored one-on-one by a trained psychologist, so it is both more expensive but also more accurate than the simple computer-based exams done by all FCPS schools). Sometimes it's just because the same kid's application in front of one committee gets rejected, but getting it in front of a second committee gets them in. Sometimes more robust work samples help give a better picture of a child's full potential. Sometimes a spring iReady shows massive improvement that helps make the case for a kid on the right trajectory. It's not a very transparent process, but yes, appeals do work. I can't tell you any rates of success of course.

I am sure a lot of them do come off as just upset parents complaining that their kids didn't get it. But it's not a waste of time by any means and does have some real validity to this process.

Do you think we all have to receive it at the same time because I didn’t receive any email yet!

I'm not sure if I received it as part of the process, or because I asked if they could confirm receipt via their form for ineligible questions in their website. You could ask the question via the form as well, if you don't get an email otherwise.

I just got it. It said they received it and an email with the decision would be sent on June 5.
