Tutors

I've heard many of the kids at the independent schools use tutors even though most won't admit it. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a math and writing tutor in the DC area? Someone familiar with the rigor and curriculum at Maret, GDS, St. Albans, NCS, Sidwell, etc. would be great!

We found that Wyzant worked well. It is not the same as a local tutor recommended by someone you know. But, it made it very easy to sort by cost, expertise, and schedule.

We are currently working with a very good tutor we found on Wyzant. He’s local to us and his rates are reasonable.

Out tutor charges $60/hr for in-person Spanish lessons. He also teaches elementary school level math.

My kid tutors. 1570 on first and only SAT when he was 15. Attending LSE this fall. I think kids respond to someone on their peer level better than a crusty old adjunct on the spectrum.

There is a steady stream of NCS girls being tutored for math by the STA faculty. If you are on the Close I'd ask around who they are using now.

Do you have to pay for the STA faculty tutoring?
