| I just inherited an enamel covered Dutch oven from my mom who is downsizing (looks like a LeCreuset but different less pricey brand). We are omnivores but I mostly cook vegetarian at home. I’ve never had one and I’m excited. It seems like all the cool social media cooking videos are using pans like these. Any favourite go to veg recipes you cook in a Dutch oven? Just starting my search and of course, the Internet is a little overwhelming. |
| It’s just a cooking pot. You can make anything in it. I use my Le Creuset pieces as regular cooking vessels: soup, dal, ratatouille, stews, biryani, etc. |
| Ratatouille is a personal favorite of mine. Chickpea curry is another go to. |
| It's just enamelled cast iron with a lid. You can cook regular recipes in it...there aren't really specific "recipes" written for them. Braise, fry, soup, stew, scramble eggs, sautee...it's a regular cooking vessel. |

Yep. Just a pot. Use it like a slow
Cooker on low. Use it as a tagine. Use it for soups. Use it for green veg and faux ham. It’s nice and heavy, which does help with heat distribution. Nice stovetop to oven for recipes talked that: It’s a pot. With a lid. Admittedly a very pretty pot with a lid, but really - what would you use a pot with a Lid for? Use it for that! I know people that use theirs for bread but the temps apparently can chip the enamel, so I guess that’s out. |
| Only think I can imagine without meat would be spaghetti frittata. |
| You can bake bread in it. |
Some People won’t as the instructions state the ideal temp for certain types of bread can crack the enamel /finish. I think this is more true of the new ones. |
Since it's enamel coated, you can cook some vegetable soup in it. Can of chopped tomatoes and can of water for your base, then add whatever other vegetables you want like potatoes, carrots, etc. |
| I am a pescatarian and cook tons of stuff in mine. It would probably be easier to say what I don't cook in it. For example, tonight I'm making sloppy joes using chopped up veggie burgers for the meat. Making it in my dutch oven. |
