| We are newish to the area and looking for feedback on the above 3 teams. Coaching personality, team (girls and parents) personality, etc. From what I have been able to find, all 3 leagues/teams are competitive and highly sought after. If you had a choice for your girl, which would you choose? |
I would choose to save my money and have my kid play a different sport that doesn’t drain my wallet. Perhaps polo. |
| Arlington |
| Alexandria |
| What age group? |
The OP did not mention Alexandria. They wanted to know about good organizations. |
Where do you live and what age group? Where were you at before? |
| arlington |

The skill level of your player is probably the most important factor if you’re already willing to drive at this age. Imo it doesn’t make sense to play on a “strong” team at the younger ages unless they are one of the top 1-3 players.
At most clubs “strong” is defined as early growers, more athletic than others and then finally most skilled. Why lose opportunities on the ball at the younger ages just to form super teams and win tournaments? Go to the club that allows your kid to get the most touches and opportunities while they’re young. Plenty of time in the future to play on the best team at the older ages. If they are the top 1-3 players on any team, age group/coach matters but out of those three clubs, I would say Bethesda and Arlington about the same followed by McLean. |
| Sharing the age group is kinda important… |
|
Coaching is better at McLean at that age group

Toddlers and Tiaras.
if you are relocating to the area from elsewhere, be prepared for a surprisingly low level of play and talent compared to the outsize parental helicoptering and sniping. it's really honey boo boo and projection by unathletic social strivers onto their poor children. at least in other parts of the country and competitive youth sports, parents are relatively realistic about their kids future NFL, NBA, NHL prospects beyond the local pride after Friday Night Lights ends. Here in the DMV, every parent is Deion Sanders LaVar Bell delusional about their DCs college scholarship recruiting |
| If your girl is a 2016 girl, I would go with McLean, as they apparently hired a World Cup level coach for that one team and it would likely behoove your daughter and her development to go there |
| OP here. We live in Montgomery County. My daughter is a 2015 and based on what was described above is conceivably one of the top 3 players. She is athletic and skilled. |
| Have you tried out yet? Tryout at all 3 and then you can base your decision on what offers you get. |
