| Hi. I have an engineer who will draw up plans for our remodel, but I need an interior designer to help me in making a plan for all the finishes in the kitchen, bathrooms, hardware and lighting. Who do you recommend? |
| Jess at The Styled Domicile. https://thestyleddomicile.com/ |
| Nobody here will share their designer. |
Must you advertise your services on every thread about interior design? We get it, you are fun and funky and love color. Newsflash: using the term "freak flag" in your advertising isn't particularly appealing. |
| I am doing this myself. But I like elements of Zoe Feldman, Cameron Ruppert, JD Ireland. I also like clean and simple stuff mixed with marble tile in the bath and just got a shower base from Innately Italy that I can put two panels of glass around. I could not find anything like it from american vendors. I also like the work of Annie Elliott. I think it’s ok to like a big mix and pull out elements I prefer from each. There is a good dmv based eBay sire called design materials on call I think that has gorgeous small lots of stuff. Also reportedly a great fabric place in Chantilly. |
What the hell? I'm a client of hers, I'm not her. Must you spew your bizarre hate all over the internet? You must be an incredibly miserable person. |
Why? |
Yes, why? I just want someone to help orient and organize my vision into a cohesive plan. Every house is unique, so I don't know why people would be so possessive about sharing their interior designer's name other than the general cattiness of women in the region. |
| Because they think that your house will look like theirs. It's totally irrational. They don't know you, you probably don't know any of the same people in common, they would probably give the name to their actual friend, but people here are weird. Except for the lady above who writes her novice designer's name on every. single. thread about interior design. |
| Sometimes the designer is listed when you pull the public permits in DC. I did this for my neighborhood to get an idea of contractors and architects and whether they do quality work. You could also ask your architect and contractor who they've worked with. |
No one thinks this. You are literally making up problems. |
Are you mentally ill? Because I'm the one you went after after I listed my designer -- accusing me of being the designer -- but now all of a sudden I'm writing her "name on every. single. thread about interior design"? I've never posted her name here, ever. Why are you making things up? You need to print this thread off and take it to a psychiatrist because my goodness are you ever a miserable human being. Truly miserable. |
Omg no! It’s because dcum is anonymous. Someone who would happily share an interior designer’s name with a friend or neighbor won’t put it on dcum, because frankly dcum is full of people who think the designer should cost $500, or that a $50,000 living room is “insane.” Interior design is one of those things that people have wildly different expectations for so it’s not something you want to advertise widely, because you’ll spend a ton of time filtering out people who are not a good fit for your business model. But you can get a long way with a design for $500, or for free at the public library, or for free at a store. So this is a good place to get design advice if you post details and a budget, but not if you don’t post any budget info. |
Yes, I agree about the “freak flag”. It’s just really cringy |
