Dirty laundry?

Anonymous
Normally I bring a mesh laundry bag and collect dirty laundry, distributing the dirty clothing amongst 1-2 smaller, carry-on suitcases, putting everything else that’s clean into another for the trip home. This trip we will be spending 2-3 nights in different locations. I just had a thought, what should we do about dirty laundry? Any ideas for ways each individual person can store and move their dirty clothes between locations, inside of our suitcases?

How many people are going?

4 of us did a 10-day trip to Costa Rica. We all started with our own suitcase. After each location, we designated one suitcase for dirties. It worked pretty well. If you can't swing that, then try to keep one half of the suitcase for dirty and then the other half as clean.

We use a trash bag.

You carry a trash bag around between cities? No wonder Americans have a bad reputation, sheesh.

Get a laundry bag that's not mesh. Can't believe this needs to be crowd-sourced.

I have a packing cube/non mesh laundry bag for dirty things. Or a pocket of the suitcase. We also wash mid trip usually.

Ha! No. The trash bag is in one of our carryons. It separates the dirty from the clean clothes until we either wash them while on vacation, or take them home.

I don’t even understand what you’re talking about. She’s looking for a laundry bag alternative, not an alternative material for a laundry bag. If you’re going to be sanctimonious, at least make sense.

Just wash your underwear in the sink and wear everything else multiple times or wash it in the sink too. You only need 3 outfits total. Maybe a hoodie for temperature changes.

In a bag. A plastic bag. This is not complicated.

We use multiple plastic bags, of varying sizes, whatever we have. Some hotels have them in the closet. We each have several in the front pocket of our luggage at all times. Depending on the circumstances we may or may not put all dirty laundry bags in one suitcase for the way home.

Same. We just use plastic bags for dirty laundry, for dirty shoes, for wet or damp stuff (swimwear for eg). We carry trashbags from home, but also make use of plastic laundry bags that hotels provide. We find that folding dirty laundry neatly in the plastic bags takes less space in the suitcase.

I use one of the packing cubes to keep it separate.
