| DC lucky to have these two choices and stumped - says he could see himself happy at either - question is in terms of outcomes, both do very well, but seems like Vandy more with MBB (two of 3 firm founders from Vandy) and Williams more IB / Wall street pipeline. Generalizations for sure, but any thoughts - and I know Williams is isolated lol! and he likes nature just fine |

Boys love Williams and do well there.
Vanderbilt has frats -- not what I'd choose but perhaps your kid disagrees. |
| Major? |
Boys can love any college and do well at many types of institution. Williams has less opportunities for boys. |
Maybe 15 percent of boys at Vanderbilt join fraternities. It's not the issue you think it is. But I think it's very unusual for students to apply to both Vanderbilt and Williams. They are very different schools. I don't think there are a lot of Vandy students that could endure the isolation of Williamstown for four years. And I don't think there are a lot of Williams students that would like Nashville for four years. Outcomes are probably the same. But those are very different experiences. |
| There is literally nothing to do in Williamstown. Students are up your a$$ neurotic and don’t relax. It seems like a super intense 4 year environment with not much payout. Go to Vandy. |
| I would go with Williams. In a lot of circles, particularly within a lot of traditional industries like law, medicine, and finance, Williams is still seen as a solid tier above Vanderbilt. Vandy strikes me as a school that is somewhat overrated for what its selectivity with a very insecure Chancellor who seems to be obsessed with rankings. |

As others have noted, Williamstown and Nashville are vastly different environments. If you still have time, try to visit both, For my part, I loved the location of Williamstown, but I was never a "go out to the club" kind of person. I'm sure many others would prefer Nashville, but there is no "right" answer

Williams
We’ve had crap experiences with vandy alums in our hiring pipeline Nescac alums have been great |
| This must be the most boring, geriatric audience. Go into the real world and have opportunities at Vandy. |
Williamstown is great for sports - decent skiing 15 minutes away, good skiing an hour or so away. Tight community. Assuming you have transportation easy to get to NYC and Boston. Most Williams kids I know are down to earth and very comfortable in their own skin. It is the "if you know, you know" mentality. Not sure why you are hating on Williams like this? People who take such extreme positions on things are just advertising their ignorance. You can constructively say negative things about a school, but the passionate hatred is juvenile. And in saying all of this, I think Vandy is an incredible place with great resources. Very different places. |
What’s an example, in your mind, of a non traditional industry in which someone might want to work? |
Okay, so if you're an upper class wealthy ski type of person, you fit in well. Sounds amazing... Also getting to Boston and NYC are both a PITA. I've been to Williams many times. You seem obsessed with a few fancy promotionals and the website you read online. |
Skiing is just one sport |
what industry ? |
