Tiger proverbs

Anonymous
Aside from having leverage in terms of position and goods, China is also schooling us with their proverbs.

First they said, “Trying to trade away others’ interests for temporary gains is like bargaining with a tiger for its skin – it will only backfire.”

And then they said, “As the saying goes, ‘He who tied the bell must untie it,’” which comes from the Chinese proverb, Let he who tied the bell to the tiger’s neck take it off.

I had not heard of either saw before, and I’m curious to see what comes next.

I get the impression Trump has only ever had one-off transactions. Screw the other guy, then move on. He doesn't seem to know how to build mutually beneficial interactions. He's all stick, no carrot.

The second one reminds me of “who will bell the cat.”

Note how no matter what the subject of discussion or how unrelated it is to Trump, libs can always manage to steer it back to Trump….. somehow.

He is truly the center of their world.

Pretty sure that if a dem president had the lowest 100 day approval rating since DDE, had erased trillions from the stock market, embroiled us in a trade war that we can never win, and was disobeying court orders, republicans would be miffed. Care to defend the haphazard rollout of the tariffs? Care to defend the loss of soybean business of us farmers? Care to defend the impending loss of trucking jobs?

As if you give even the SLIGHTEST F’ about either farmers OR truckers!!!!

Hilarious!!!!!!!

Narrator: The poster did not care to defend Trump’s failures.

Yes. The enemy of your enemy isn't your friend. Cheering China on is bad form. They are so awful to their people.

I try not to buy things from China because they can be full of lead and heavy metals or toxins. No regulations! Give me crap made in factories in countries with TONS of regulations so its safe (and more humane) even if it costs more.

Plus you can't stress about us sliding into authoritarianism and then egg China on. They are right next between russia and north korea.

Your view is myopic. Saying that China is winning the trade war is not cheering on China. It’s the truth. Dismissing China because we don’t agree with their form of government is not how America gets ahead. They have the rare earth mineral processing that we need and they are ahead in every metric of manufacturing and we should have demanded that they manufacture in the U.S. and teach us instead of booing them at every turn. It has become de rigueur for politicians on both sides of the aisle to denigrate china, as if that proves how much they care about America.

We don’t like their form of government, but we need their products and their manufacturing knowledge, so we can’t shut them out, just as we needed Mideast oil in the 70’s. I am left wing, and I want America to win. I don’t like authoritarianism, but I know that America’s future as an economic power depends on having a relationship with China for the long term.

Oh we need this or we need, now importing rare earths is too profitable, so now need to import this or that. You can't pick winners. We all lose that way. People who need things from China should lose money. Then we can start winning.

DP, joke's on you.

Democrats have supported truckers and farmers in many ways, for example appropriations in the Farm bills for funding rural development, agricultural research and so on. Dems promoted and funded rural broadband and rural infrastructure projects which helps farmers and truckers. Dems improved working conditions and healthcare, they have fought for tax provisions that would protect family farms as well as crop-neutral insurance to protect farmers, there are many things that Dems have done for farmers and truckers. If you actually followed issues and legislation rather than just listening to idiot talking heads on conservative media, you'd know this.

Fail. You couldn't defend Trump's horrible policies and your own talking points don't cut it.

Whether that poster does or does not care, surely the farmers and truckers care about themselves? And their representatives in Congress should also care.

Are there any proverbs about using child labor to mine rare earth for batteries for shoddily-built EV’s?

Or any proverbs for using Uyghur slaves in factories to make consumer electronics?

Or any proverbs about unchecked industrial pollution being poured into the sea?

How about a Tiger Proverb for any of those?

How about:

“He who funded the tiger’s gain of function research shall be held accountable for the tiger leaking out of the lab” ?
