Yes.  The enemy of your enemy isn't your friend.  Cheering China on is bad form. They are so awful to their people.

I try not to buy things from China because they can be full of lead and heavy metals or toxins. No regulations!  Give me crap made in factories in countries with TONS of regulations so its safe (and more humane) even if it costs more.

Plus you can't stress about us sliding into authoritarianism and then egg China on. They are right next between russia and north korea.

Your view is myopic. Saying that China is winning the trade war is not cheering on China. It’s the truth. Dismissing China because we don’t agree with their form of government is not how America gets ahead. They have the rare earth mineral processing that we need and they are ahead in every metric of manufacturing and we should have demanded that they manufacture in the U.S. and teach us instead of booing them at every turn. It has become de rigueur for politicians on both sides of the aisle to denigrate china, as if that proves how much they care about America.

We don’t like their form of government, but we need their products and their manufacturing knowledge, so we can’t shut them out, just as we needed Mideast oil in the 70’s. I am left wing, and I want America to win. I don’t like authoritarianism, but I know that America’s future as an economic power depends on having a relationship with China for the long term. Oh we need this or we need, now importing rare earths is too profitable, so now need to import this or that.  You can't pick winners.  We all lose that way.  People who need things from  China should lose money.  Then we can start winning.[/quote]
