| Has anyone recently had their deck redone or a new one installed? We have to get ours completely torn down and re built. We want composite or Trex material. About 26 x 14 size. Can you please share costs? |
| We got quotes between 25-40k for similar. |
| We paid $14,000 for a 6 ft by 14 ft. This was in DE. |
| Completely tore down old deck and built new one in DC for $44k. Trex with metal rails and built in lighting. 21x17 feet. With inspections and permits included. It was middle of road proposal. The cheapest one would not do permit process. |
| Expect it to cost more - tariffs. |
| Remember you aren't paying for a deck, you are paying for someone to come put a deck in at your house instead of someone else's home. |
They can be as high as $100 per sq ft, depending on materials, location, and contractor. The ground underneath needs to be stable and prepped also, which can greatly increase the price. Also, having a roof overhead is basically a must if you want it to last and look nice. So it's expensive. |
Don't talk if you are not informed. Enough with this garbage. Trex is American based using American sourced recycled materials. Tariffs don't affect it. |
| We are doing a 48x11 deck in the bay area on a slope with Timbertech for 36k. The other two estimates I got from GC’s was 75-100k. We went with the deck specialist. |

We did a deck in close-in Maryland last July. Brand new, so nothing to tear downs . It was 25’ x 15’. And it’s about 2 feet off the ground and we used the Trex ‘enhance’ line (their lowest price line). We did use hidden fasteners, which adds some to the cost. Had fascia trim around the deck and a wood barrier from the deck to the ground to keep wasps and other pests from nesting underneath.
We paid $22k. |
please dont use trex or composite. i am planning to tear down my brand new deck because it get horribly slippery in cold and rainy days, and horribly hot in hot days. It is not good or comfortable. Please go with wood and stain it. |
Yes! Trump is so smart! Trex has increased pricing on all composite decking lines by 7.5%, with the exception of their top line Signature series which has been increased by 15% for the 2025 decking season |
Bummer to hear this. We have a wood deck and every 18 months it requires cleaning and restaining at about $1200. Plus, over time we need boards replaced. The ongoing maintenance costs are a bear. We like wood but it’s a bit of a hassle. |
I hear you. We replaced a wood deck with trex, and now want to replace the trex with wood. But trex is so horribly uncomfortable and dangerous. |
Why would you be on the deck when raining...or when extremely hot? No shoes? |
