Consignment place?

Anonymous
Has anyone found a consignment place in the region that pays decent for clothes/accessories??

I have nice, barely worn clothes — Boden, Zara, Aerie, Abercrombie, Crewcuts - some new with tags.

I don’t have the time to do it myself and I don’t want to just donate it. Upscale Resale doesn’t pay well. Kid to Kid offered me $1-2 a piece, which was insulting.

Anyone used Lucy’s in Frederick and know anything about how they pay?

You're only getting cheap prices because the way to make money is what you don't have time for - do it yourself.

I don't have the time either, so I get it. But that's why you're getting quoted $2/piece.

I used to do Totswsp when DD was younger and I’d have many more clothes and I made decent money, but it was a lot of Carter’s and Target etc. No one wants to pay for better brands there. No one wanted to pay more than $5 an item. The quality got worse in recent years; I couldn’t believe the amount of things I saw on the racks missing buttons or with stains, etc. That’s when I quit selling there.

I agree TotSwap has gone downhill. I tried selling there once and will never do it again. I think you have to be prepared to donate everything, which means they try to sell it first. I was able to sell things, but I had 2 things go missing, and one end up in the do not sell pile for being damaged...but I don't think it was.

Can you bundle things and try selling on marketplace? I'm not sure how well clothes do.

+1 Supply and demand. There is a glut of used clothing - US thrift, consignment, etc can only sell a small fraction of it and the rest is shipped overseas.

Since there is so much competition, they can't sell for much and some of what they buy won't sell at all. I think new with tags Boden probably sells for $15-20 and the store has overhead.
